About Mollie
Mollie Jane Alexandra Plummer
Hi, I’m Mollie Plummer and I’m an artist who studies personal narrative. The conflict between each piece I do and the artwork itself has equal value so I cannot commit to one specified material. By avoiding a singular medium, I embrace the freedom to experiment and convey my messages with authenticity. However, I tend to drift towards using found objects and mixed media to help convey my messages, for example, working with the medium cardboard, it metaphorically represents a theme of homelessness within my work, as well as showing the reality of life and death. I have previously shown this when staging with found cardboard; making boot prints on it and allowing the weather to wear it away showing lack of care. Also, sustainability and recycling are paramount in my practice, reflecting a commitment to environmental consciousness.

I tend to explore different themes that interest me, such as homelessness, nostalgia, mental illness, the everyday, and more. These themes interest me because it is a part of my life. Being able to express my experiences through my artwork can give me a sense of closure and clarity. To me it is important to explore my intimate life stories for It to encourage an acceptance of other people's experiences, allowing individuals to feel open to express similar issues if they wish. These themes may seem so different from an outsider's perspective but to me, it's a day-to-day issue.

My art is not merely a means of expression, but a reflection of my lived experiences and a catalyst for societal reflection and change. Through each piece, I endeavour to ignite conversations, provoke thought, and ultimately, inspire empathy and connection.
